Chymotrypsin, a digestive proteolytic enzyme cleave peptide bonds formed by the carboxyl groups of Tyr, Phe, Trp, which has been in clinical use since the 1960s. It provides better resolution of inflammatory symptoms and promotes speedier recovery of acute tissue injury than several of the other existing enzyme preparations. 

Recombinant human chymotrypsin developed by BaoPharma（Shanghai） is the only recombinant chymotrypsin in China that would enter phase I studies.
