Lurasidone

Lurasidone
Product Description

Atypical antipsychotic with a low metabolic side-effect burden, approved for schizophrenia and bipolar depression; combines dopamine D2 and serotonin 5-HT2A/5-HT7 receptor antagonism. Its comparatively minimal effect on weight, lipids and glucose metabolism distinguishes it from several older atypical antipsychotics, making it a useful option for patients at higher metabolic risk. Because absorption is significantly increased when taken with food, it is generally dosed once daily with a meal. Its dual approval in both schizophrenia and bipolar depression allows it to serve overlapping patient populations within a single molecule.
