Automatically tracking children's medication

Automatically tracking children's medication
Product Description

As a busy parent, managing a child's medication can be hard. Team Consulting integrated connectivity into a syringe to help parents keep track of their child’s medication through a smartphone app.

Using a small, low-cost sensor, this connected syringe automatically tracks when and how much drug has been administered. The data is then uploaded to an app that allows parents to check their child’s dose history and symptoms through a simple user interface.

  • Adding connectivity to a range of auto-injectors

Product Adding connectivity to a range of auto-injectors

We developed a proof-of-concept connected module to fit inside the rear cap of Bespak by Recipharm’s existing auto-injector, along with an iOS application, cloud database and web portal. The demonstrator device and connected system showed the potential for incorporating sensing technology. Sensing would allow collection of valuable data and insight from users and encourage patient adherence by providing a considered and supportive user experience.

Our cross-functional team worked with the client to develop a connected demonstrator to allow the evaluation of functionality for different devices and use cases. Low-cost development technologies and prototyping techniques enabled the project to progress quickly without the need for significant investment in hardware and software development.
  • Smart hearing health

    Product Smart hearing health

In 2020 we celebrated as TympaHealth, one of our start-up clients, launched the world’s first all-in-one hearing health assessment system, a portable smartphone-enabled otoscope with accompanying smartphone app. Since then, the novel device has been awarded Gold in the internationally recognised UX Design Awards for its innovative design and user experience, along with a Good Design Award and an iF Design Award.

TympaHealth approached us with a vision to change hearing healthcare, utilising digital health technology and a user-friendly design. We took their initial prototype through two stages of development by applying user feedback gained during use of a first generation ‘pilot’ system. We identified and introduced new features whilst optimising usability and handling for a second generation ‘commercial’ system. Within 15 months we achieved the industrialisation and CE marking of this Class I medical device, compliant with the MDR.
