CPHI Podcast Series: What does an evolving pharmaceutical industry mean for excipients?

In the first episode of the CPHI Podcast Series for 2025, Evonne Brennan speaks about the future of the excipient field in pharma, and what challenges and changes could be on the horizon. 

Evonne has been working within the Pharmaceutical Industry for over twenty years in various Business and Technical Roles. Evonne’s main focus is in the areas of formulation development, scale-up and Pharmaceutical processing.

In this episode, Evonne Brennan joined Digital Editor Lucy Chard for a chat about the complex world of excipients.

Excipients is an ever changing field that involves a lot of moving parts and today Evonne gave an insight into some of these aspects. We discussed the security of the excipient supply chain and how this can influence issues such as drug pricing and drug shortages. Brennan highlights how important communication and collaboration is in this field for education and for pushing to find the next target for progress, that ultimately will make the lives of patients better.

It will be very interesting to see how the developments in technology such as with continuous manufacturing, and the further development of patient-centric design, will influence the excipient field in the coming years.
