The PSCI introduces the Supplier Maturity Models: a webinar

The PSCI have launched their framework for suppliers in the pharmaceutical and health industry for increasing social and environmental responsibility, complete with guides and resources, all showcased in a helpful webinar. 

Concept and purpose of the Supplier Maturity Models 

The main ideas behind the models are all linked to the PSCI vision, to improve standards across the global pharma supply chain and the healthcare industry, involving all aspects of social and environmental governance that comes into play.

How do we materialise that vision? Joseph challenges - discussing how we can engineer a substantial impact on sustainability in the field, using the maturity model as a framework to help. She describes three main ways to do this:

1. Pressing the importance of auditing and enabling this through access to an audit programme, hosting tools for auditing, and sharing audit information. 
2. Capability building work, empowering companies to improve their environmental and social outcomes via the use of extensive programmes of conferences, webinars, and materials available for free. 
3. A vast library of materials, offering around 12 webinars a year, and thousands of events. Free tools are available along with a collection of useful documents all aimed at helping the suppliers. 

The maturity model is based on the five PSCI Principles

All PSCI members commit to support these principles, so everyone is working together, arguable one of the only ways we can effect substantial change across the industry. The Principles are updated every 3 years so they are kept current and relevant in accordance with any changes in regulations and with our continued understanding of sustainability and sustainability goals. 

One thing the PSCI are keen to introduce within this model is a tool companies can use to self-assess how their company fares when measured against the five Principles, and where this leaves them on the maturity ladder. 

By being able to identify the area for focus improvement is an exceptionally useful aspect of the model by helping suppliers to create specific improvement plans to address their weaker areas and develop their strongest areas more, and share these experiences with others. 

The maturity framework includes 4 levels that suppliers can fit into and move through: Starting out, Developing, Implementing, and Leading. 

The model looks at 70 different elements of a business to assess its place in the maturity model, making it a comprehensive assessment of the business.
